Valentyn Filipenko (1935)

Valentyn Filipenko was born in 1935 in Odessa, Ukraine. His paintings, in melodious colors and substantial texture of canvas, come across as if were drawn without interruptions, on a single breath.
Valentyn’s images, generally, don’t express any action or tell a story. In their essence is the ability to convey the feeling of spiritual awareness, the mood, the ambiance, the state of simply being. This allows him to capture whether the legendary and heroic time of Civil War or the all-time profound and tender theme of Maternity.
His works are in collections of Kiev and Odessa museums, as well as in numerous private art collections in Europe, USA and China.
To date, Valentyn Filipenko works and lives in Odessa. He is a Member of the Artists’ Union of Ukraine.
